Get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the beautiful nature
Want to get some fresh air and enjoy the beautiful nature that the surroundings of Saahm has to offer? 
Start at Toeristische Overstappunt (TOP) Maarsseveense Plassen, the ideal starting point (a large, free car park) for a visit to the Vecht region. Several beautiful walking and cycling routes through an unprecedentedly varied region with a rich history and beautiful nature reserves.

Walk into the Boscafé of Saahm at the start or just at the end of your tour to make your day out complete. 

12.5 km, 50 minutes

Family bike ride Saahm


12 kilometres cycling, is that fun? Certainly with this route! Explore the surroundings and get off at Fort de Gagel and play in the forest. The IJsboederij in Westbroek is half way along the route, that's a nice stop for a ice cream! Continue your route, spot the frogs in the ditch and the birds in the air. Maybe it's even time for a dip in the lake when the weather is nice? After the route you have definitely earned a drink and a sandwich!

Klop- en Gagelpad


This route leads you along the most beautiful historical spots of Maarssen where you will come across several Forts. History meets you with these impressive buildings, surrounded by water with the aim of defending ourselves back in the days. Finish your walk with a delicious lunch or drink at Saahm!

Bicycle route for 'bird watchers'


Do you like birds and biking? Then this route is especially for you. You will cycle through the polder Groot Mijdrecht. The Waverhoek is a good spot for spotting water, meadow and marsh birds. With a bit of luck you can even spot the bittern or spoonbill bird here. You will come across many more water birds if you cycle straight through the Loosdrechtse Plassen. A stop at Saahm with a delicious drink and snack and a beautiful view over the lake is of course an absolute must.

Around Fort Maarsseveen


Take a short walk in the area and along Fort Maarsseveen. This route is ideal for families to go out for a while and take the dog along! Afterwards, will you come and roast a sandwich or marshmallow at our fire place?
